My Garden...

This weekend I worked in the yard!!
I had been planning all week to plant flowers in my backyard this past weekend and I went to Home Depot with my Mom to shop. I knew what I wanted Tulips and Daffodils and Hyacinth. Cause they are pretty and smell good too! Just walk up Park Avenue and you will see what i mean about tulips and daffodils together! So anyway I get to Home Depot and walk around for about 15 minutes slowly realizing that I have absolutely no clue as to what i need to buy or what i need to do to get the garden I want... so i calmly walk back to the car and call my sister cause she did a great job on my mothers front yard.... so she will be in town to help me out this week.

In the mean time I have been tilling the runners where I wanna plant shrubs and flowers and I have also brought 3 books on gardening and landscaping.... I am ready to have a beautiful garden this summer and the summers to come..It is just gonna take a little more time and work than I thought. But I am willing to put in the work and I am actually enjoying coming home from work and going to work in the yard/garden to be..

oh yeah and last but not least I have put daffodils and hyacinth in a window box and pot to motivate me as I work!

  1. hmmm, so ur version of the story is you calmly walked back to the car? huh. umi says you had an anxiety attack. too funy. ...actually you wanna see something funny? next time ur in the garden with umi, point out that you see worms! sehe is terrified of worms...its hilarious. LOL

i'm excited that ur excited about the garden...if you recall i was thoroughly upset when you let all of my hard work go to waste back there. no worries, the beauty with that yard is the earth is VERY fertile...remember all of those vines...

i'm glad you bought three books on gardening - i picked one up for you too (maybe i'll take it back 2morow). the key is to plant items that will provide you with continuous bloom so as one dies the next type comes up. tulips are cute but ever notice how on park ave they all die afetr about a month? yeah, so you dont want a pretty yard for a whole month only. keep the tulips in the windows boxes... it'll bring life to ur kitchen.

you have so much great space back there that you can really get creative with the section way in the back..like full shade types of ground cover in the back or pebble patterns witha few brick slabs for a path, maybe sculptures, a rainproof ggazebo type thingy...or maybe not ...you dont wanna come home and find out u got somebody living in ur back yard...lol.

anyway, i'll see you tomorrow. maybe we make a night trip to lowes to peek around, strategize and make friends with the garden staff...then go back over the weekend and buy stuff. find an suv to borrow.

  2. oh yeah, what's really peacful and refreshing is when you wake up every morning and go out in the yard in your jammies and water the runners for 15 minutes on each side. the air feels so clean at that time of morning and there's no noise.

(u gotta water in the am so the flowers aren't thritsy all day)

  5. girl, for a minute i thought that was YOUR garden in the photo. i was about to be like "YOU GO GIRL!"

either way, i'm glad you're getting into the dirt and doing ya thing. i heard that kind of thing is very theraputic for the wounded soul.
